Enough about the flipping dog already!

For those of you who aren't panting in anticipation of the yet to be unleashed news about how much more work having a puppy is than they'd realized, I offer, as a public service, a return to news you can really use. There's so much to choose from...

An enlightening and disturbing interview with former banker William Black, author of "The Best Way to Rob a Bank is to Own One."

Truly independent journalists Amy Goodman and Glen Greenwald holding forth with Bill Moyers after being honored as first recipients of the I. F. Stone award. (If it weren't for Democracy Now one might be inclined to forget we're even at (2) war(s).

The final nail in the coffin for Zimbabwe. Once you're issuing $50 Billion dollar bills, I guess the only thing you can do is suspend your currency in favor of some place else's.

On FRONTLINE WORLD, Children of the Taliban chronicles Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy's incredibly courageous travels through the Taliban stronghold in the Swat Valley, weeks before the Pakistani government officially turned it over to the Taliban. The nonchalant willingness of her interview subjects (teen friends) to kill each other, was exceeded only by their willingness to die. There's a whole generation of boys whose families are being fed in exchange for daily indoctrination at the madrassas.

Then, of course, there's what Michelle Obama's wearing. Just as the headiness of the royal hugs and other continental news is wearing off, if you can't get enough (I tried, I tried) of Michelle's fashion signals, there's a blog devoted entirely to MichelleWear, Mrs. O. These folks are so on top of their game they've noted that Mrs. O wore something twice. (Heaven forfend!) Can a BoWear blog be far behind?

Big up to you if you spot and name the 70s music shout out in this post.

The $50 billion dollar note is one of the smaller ones in Zimbabwe. The reserve Bank here issued a $10 trillion note in January, just before the economy was dollarised!
