No Matter What Happens

I fervently agree with Maureen Dowd's column in last Sunday's New York Times, especially this bon mot:

“…let’s hope for this change: that he puts some audacity in his audacity.”

There's no reason that Rachel Maddow or Bill Clinton should do a better job of lauding the Administration's accomplishments than the Administration does.   W could barely scratch his ass without gloating about it before the press; this guy makes historic changes and then apparently considers it in bad taste to go on about it.   Good luck with that.

AND I also agree with Eugene Robinson's assessment of What's Behind the Tea Party's Ire?
The first African American president takes office, and almost immediately we see the birth of a big, passionate national movement - overwhelmingly white and lavishly funded - that tries its best to delegitimize that president, seeks to thwart his every initiative, and manages to bring the discredited and moribund opposition party roaring back to life. Coincidence?
If Barack Obama looked more like Harold Ford, maybe the Kochs and their ilk wouldn't be so incensed.  Despite being half-black, he looks more black than not, and regardless of his education, capabilities  and ARTICULATENESS, he just ain't white, RIGHT for America.   Perhaps decades from now (presuming there are some after 2012) when everybody's some shade of brown, he'll be remembered for historic accomplishments that eased the ride of the citizenry at the start of America's decline, but he can't govern by thinking of how he'll be remembered, he needs to do what he said he was gonna do, then say over and over again that he did it--or at least get Valerie or David to say it for him.  Those who vote based on policy rather than color preference could bear being reminded from time to time--like Maureen said:

“Hey, dude, you’re a politician. Act like one.”

It is not over yet. It would be great if O and company learned from this and brought the Chicago style partisan politics the next two years. Bring Howard Dean back to the DNC

What would Dean do at the DNC that he didn't do or try to do when he was at the DNC?
