Tea Partying in the Streets
When I first heard that Governor Schwarzenegger had offered a $100,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the arsonist responsible for this year's raging fires in California, I scoffed. California is the state where IOUs were given in lieu of income tax refunds a few short months ago, after all. Today when the Governor announced a $75 million Green Jobs training program, I remembered the stimulus package. Remember that? Heaping mounds of dough given out months ago to, among other things, help the states fund the ever-increasing claims for unemployment benefits, food stamps, temporary cash assistance, job-training, etc? I hope there's actually some Green Jobs when trainees finish California's training program. While the stimulus package may have slipped my mind (though I fervently support and urgently seek funds to subsidize yoga classes), these folks can't forget. Glenn Beck devotees descend on the nation's capital to march down Pennsylvania Avenue on Saturday to protest all things Obama. There's also a triathlon amid downtown streets on Sunday, and streets blocked off for Arts on Foot near Verizon Center. The take away here? TAKE METRO this weekend (delayed for track work, of course) or stay home!

Laughed when I read your first thought when you read of the reward for information leading to the arrest of the arson. I suppose an IOU wouldn't work well in this case.
