Blogging Back Time

Okay, NO ONE got the 70's music shout out that was tucked in my post yesterday-- "Can't get enough! (I tried! I tried!")
It's from Funky Stuff by Kool and the Gang:
I can’t get enough
Of that funky stuff (I tried, I tried)
I can’t get enough
Of that funky stuff

I say whoa whoa whoa whoa …YEAH!

La de da de da….

I say whoa whoa whoa whoa …YEAH!

(Thank God for Google that brings us through those senior moments: I'd thought it was by the Average White Band!)

I got hipped to Blogging Back Time Thursdays over at Lola's Diner and today's topic is The First Concert. Mine was The Commodores, circa 1978 or 79, I think.
School that day was abuzz with excitement. Girls came to school with rollers in their hair and some left early to get ready. Some didn't come at all, spending all day getting ready! (Hey, this was a BIG EVENT in them thar hills!)

For my part, I was STYLING: Charcoal gray, corduroy, three piece (that's right; blazer, vest AND...) gauchos outfit, with some knee high wedge heel boots in that weird reddish brown color. Needless to say, I didn't sit down often, but paraded through the Civic Center for all to see...(at least twice)
"AWWWW She's a Brick... HOOOOUUUUUUUSE"

Awesome! Are you sure you don't have a photo to share of that funkified outfit? A 3 piece gaucho set, I don't even think I was ever that stylin'.

I do recall sporting the plaid wide cuffed pants (ala The Bay City Rollers) and I did have a pair of bright red platform shoes (the soles were white), can you dig it? Lol!

I loved the Commodores "Brick House", we skated to it at the roller rink all the time. We ALWAYS had to hear it at least once when we were there.

Oh, sorry I missed the post yesterday. I may have gotten it.

I don't care what, when or why, but every time I hear Brickhouse, I have to boogie. Man, that was good stuff!
