Liveblogging the Inauguration on TV: Senator Ted Kennedy collapses

The Associated Press reported that Senator Ted Kennedy was taken from the Inaugural luncheon at the Capitol by ambulance to a local hospital after collapsing. I was surprised and happy to see him there today. He looked healthy. Obama's ascendancy is due in part to the blessing of Ted Kennedy's endorsement during the primary. Seeing Obama sworn in as President brings his brothers' John and Robert's legacies full circle as well.

Senator Robert Byrd from West Virginia, the former Ku Klux Klansmsn who also endorsed Obama and was also wheelchair bound today, reportedly left the luncheon as well, perhaps to follow his friend Ted to the hospital. They are the oldest and second oldest members of the Senate.
