Today in Black History

Today is the 83rd anniversary of Malcolm X's birth. Wonder if Senator Byrd's endorsement of Obama was a cloaked nod to chickens coming home to roost?

It is also Lorraine Hansberry's birthday. The author and playwright gleaned much from her family's experience when writing A Raisin In The Sun. After a brick was thrown through the window of their family home in an predominantly white neighborhood, her Dad pursued justice all the way to the Illinois Supreme Court. He won, in 1959, the same year that his 28 year old daughter's play debuted on Broadway, and won the New York Drama Critics Circle award for Best American Play.
